Jakarta BPS Records 2 Percent Inflation in March 2025

The Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded inflation of two percent month-on-month (mtm) and 0.18 percent year-on-year (yty) in March 2025.

"In March 2025, inflation was two percent on a monthly basis and 0.18 percent on an annual basis," expressed Jakarta BPS Head, Nurul Hasanudin, Tuesday (4/8).

According to him, one of the 11 expenditure groups contributing to inflation is the prepaid electricity tariff, which has returned to normal or without discounts. This sector contributed 1.57 percent to inflation in mid-March 2025.

"Another group, namely food, beverages, and tobacco, contributed 1.7 percent to inflation with a share of 0.34 percent," he explained.

Personal care and other services contribute to an inflation rate of 0.87 percent with a share of 0.06 percent.

"Four other commodities contributed to inflation, namely red onions by 0.11 percent; gold jewelry by 0.06 percent; broiler chicken by 0.05 percent; and red chili by 0.04 percent," he explained.

He added the decline in airfares in March 2025 experienced a deflation of 2.23 percent, contributing a negative 0.03 percent.

"Also, railway fares experienced a deflation of 3.59 percent, contributing a negative 0.02 percent," he closed.
